Goddess Legend of White Buffalo Calf Woman

Original artwork by Chenoa Danu, aka Christy

Legend of White Buffalo Woman

White Buffalo Woman was a sacred woman who brought knowledge to the Oglala Sioux.

Nineteen generations ago, two hunters came upon a beautiful maiden dressed in white buckskin. The first hunter looked upon her with desire, while the second realized she was sacred, and lowered his eyes with respect. The first hunter reached out to touch her, offending White Buffalo Woman. His body fell to the ground, turning to ashes and bones. She then explained to the second hunter she was from the Great Buffalo Nation and was coming to bring a message to his people.

White Buffalo Woman visited the village 4 days later, and bestowed a sacred bundle upon them.  The Sacred bundle contained the sacred prayer pipe made of red stone. During the visit, she instructed them on the importance of a hearth fire, and showed them how to cook corn and meat over it. She taught them sacred songs, dance and seven ways to pray in the form of sacred rites.  White Buffalo Woman spoke to the women, telling them that it was the work of their hands and the fruit of their bodies, which kept the people alive. She also instructed them to be responsible caretakers of the land and to always be mindful that the children are the future of the people.

When White Buffalo Woman left, she told them there would be 4 ages, The Rock Age, The Bow Age, The Fire Age, and The Pipe Age. She promised at the end of the ages, she would return for the sacred bundle and bring harmony and spiritual balance to the world.

A person undergoes a Vision Quest so they can better understand his or her oneness with all things and gain better knowledge of the Great Spirit.

The seeker takes their pipe and some tobacco and goes to an isolated place, often on a high mountain or bluff. The seeker stays in isolation, praying for a vision. The seeker remains as long as it takes to achieve the desired goal; the quests often take three or four days. Visions often come to the seeker in the form of an animal, and dreams carry the most powerful visions.

A song sang by White Buffalo Woman begins:

With visible breath, I am walking…

A white buffalo calf, named Miracle, was born on August 20, 1994 in Wisconsin, on the farm of Dave Heider. It was the first white buffalo born in many years. Some believe she was the fulfillment of the prophesy that the return of the White Buffalo Woman will herald the advent of an age of peace and harmony.

White Buffalo Prophecy
Chief Phil Lane Jr. tells the Prophecy of the White Buffalo.

White Buffalo Prophecy from P3 on Vimeo.
This Prophecy of the White Buffalo has been kept within our Magaska Ptesan Wicoti, Hinhan Wicasa Oyate for more than 160 years. It was carried by Mato Gi, Phil Lane Sr., who was named Mato Gi by his Grandfather Tipi Sapa, (Black Lodge) after his older brother, Mato Gi, would rode the Bay Horse, Eagle Claws, and slay the White Buffalo Bull, as prophesied. Tipi Sapa,( Philip Deloria) received his name from his father Hinhan Wicasa after a life changing Vision Hinhan Wicasa received as young man at Medicine Butte when Hinhan Wicasa was 17 years old.

My Grandfather Vine Deloria Sr and my Uncle Wilfred Cadotte told me this prophecy often, as well as my father, Mato Gi. I heard my father speak on several occasions about this Prophecy with his Tahansi Henry Spotted Tail and others when we visited Ihanktowan Territory over the years. My 14 year old was given the name Mato Gi by his grandfather before he died. It turns out the latest generation of our Oyate who carries the Name Mato Gi, who rode the Bay Horse who slayed the White Buffalo was born on August 27, 2000, after White Buffalo Day was declared as Augsut 27. That is why I decided to share it today. The time for the full fulfillment of this Sacred Prophecy of the White Buffalo is now!

My Uncle Vine Deloria Jr. briefly mentions this story of the White Buffalo Prophecy of the Magaska Ptesan Wicoti, Hinhan Wicasa Oyate, Ikanktonwan Oceti Sakowin in his book, Singing for a Spirit,. Many relatives are the direct carriers of the promises of this sacred Prophecy that was fulfilled by Mato Gi' and Bay Horse, Eagle Claws through the spiritual training and guidance of Hinhan Wicasa.

Most people are familiar with the story of the White Buffalo Calf Woman, who came to the Lakota bringing the canupa, the sacred pipe, the four values, and sacred ways of living. There is another White Buffalo story told by Phil Lane Jr. who is the president of the Four Winds International Institute.
Lane, who is an enrolled member of the Ihanktonwan Dakota and Chickasaw Nations, tells the story of the White Buffalo bull in a video below. He begins by sharing some words of wisdom: “How do you know what hatred is if you live in love,” says Chief Lane in the video. “How do you know what the destruction of Mother Earth is when you only respect her and love her.”

Mandy Peterson - White Buffalo Calf Woman FRAUD

Relatives,
No one can speak for me, White Buffalo Calf Woman. I can speak for myself. Mandy Peterson is a magenta child who cannot see anything clearly and distorts and says, I am speaking. This is NOT ME as SHE THINKS.

When this first came out, I thought about interpreting the story, yet this would only feed into her ignorance. I am getting tired of everyone speaking for me and stealing my name to sell their products and services. Soon they will be dealt with. I sell nothing and am open to everyone who comes towards me for free, yet gifting is honoring. Stealing is simply defiling my name.

LOVE IS THE LAW. I am bringing the LAW.

White Buffalo Calf Woman and The Rainbow Bridge

By Mandy Peterson on April 29, 2012 · Angels and Inspiration, World Peace

This is a story in which the White Buffalo Calf Woman speaks rather than a “channeling.”

Within my mind’s eye, as if in a dream, I saw the White Buffalo Calf Woman approaching me. She knows she needs no introduction. Without a word, she takes my left hand within her right palm and begins to lead me toward a beautiful and vast plane. It feels so calm there; a place unaffected by the ways, the means, or the hands of men. Upon the horizon the Lakota Prophetess traced with her finger an arch from right to left and a huge rainbow in all of its glory and color appeared.

Her finger re-tracing the movements of the arch, the White Buffalo Calf Woman asked me to notice how it starts at the level of the Earth plane, rises into the Heavens and descends back down to the Earth plane again. “So full of hope,” she said. Another word that she spoke was “destiny.” As she and I looked upon the rainbow together, she spoke; “This is your destiny, because this rainbow is part of who you are and of everything.”

As she drew me closer to the rainbow, it seemed to tower so awesomely above me. However, the lady calf woman was not awed. She simply knew. She spoke lovingly; “Notice how a rainbow takes advantage of all of Earth’s elements to tell a story. The light of a fiery sun casts itself onto droplets of moisture within the Earth’s atmosphere, splitting light into colors which then form a brilliant arch. This arch forms a bridge between Heaven and Earth, connecting all. And, notice how, wherever the rainbow may appear, and whatever the day has been or whether a storm has or has not passed through, the story of each rainbow is still always the same. Each contains all the same colors reflected in the same way.”

She continued; “Your life on Earth, dear child, contains all the colors that life can attest. You, and all upon the Earth, hold all the colors that Pure White Light can possess. Such colors are displayed as split but joined together. Intangible but clearly visible, such a rainbow reveals its beauty, unmistakably and everywhere.”

Within my mind’s eye and still as if in a dream, the White Buffalo Calf Woman then led me to the base of the Rainbow which became tangible in her presence. As I took a closer look, there were many people from many walks of life standing upon it at different intervals.

“Walk it,” she would ask me, in almost the form of a demand. She knew that I would not resist. She walked with me, hand in hand. As I climbed the rainbow, I saw hands around me everywhere begin to join; men, women and children from every culture, religion, race or creed that could be imagined. Many natives joined this empowered chain as well.

Once gathered at the top of the rainbow, the Beautiful White Buffalo Calf woman in a voice so clear and calm called upon us; “Dear Children of Great Spirit and of His Earth, look down upon a world below. You’ve come so far.” She continued; “For many of you that have reached the top of the rainbow, it is made known to you that it doesn’t matter from what religion you come, or what color you are, or what manifestations you have made of your life, but that you are here and joined in One purpose: to walk your Earth journey as equals and as brothers while creating awareness of who you are as children of the Divine One.”

She then turned to face us all and asked each of us; “Look upon the Earth more clearly, Dear Ones. May you all stand upon this bridge between Heaven and Earth and gain a higher perspective looking down… a higher perspective of all your collective fruits. See the path you paint upon your Loving Earth with all the colors of your conscious and unconscious prayers and energy. Look upon all of it now and with loving and unbiased awareness. From the top of the rainbow, you understand your true perfection. Only from here, from rising above and still standing in the truth of who you are, it is possible to look down, for how to intend, think, pray and live in ways which recognize the Earth as a being who is joined with you on your amazing journey to know One and All. This is how to have your bridge to heaven, return itself to Earth again and touch ground. Only through bridging back to Earth from heaven may you learn how in all ways is She, your Earth, capable of representing and acting as a mirror for the purity of your truest form; if you should allow. For, She is the shadow of who you are and what you do unto her, you do upon yourself, because you are One. And, if you let Her speak to you from this heightened position, She can teach you how to have your collective Earth life represent the vibration of the Pure White Light that all Her rainbows stem from.”

She continued; “Look at Nature to see what has been created there. Where do you observe a tree growing healthy fruit, and where can be found polluting weeds that without boundaries threaten what tries to flower all around? Of whatever you observe, and without tagging anything as ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ and only ‘what is’, ask yourself what underlying thoughts, desires, beliefs, or seeds has it been sown from? Do not discount the effect of conventions, everyday habits and lifestyles, for these are seeds in action. Like weeds they may begin to propagate and sow until the original seed is hard to note or take accountability for.”

Pointing toward a part of Earth that had been harmed by the ways of mankind, she spoke; “Here, located among the weeds, may you find the root of collective prayers and thought forms which have sown imbalance and chaos into a world so much seeking to know PEACE and LOVE.” Pointing towards a part of nature living more vibrantly, she spoke; “Located within all that is beautiful, balanced and unpolluted, lay the seeds of nature’s abundantly healthy and thriving fruits. From these you may learn how to think and pray in more united and more fertile ways.” She added; “You can then break any mental conditioning in which you have falsely learned to mistake those seeds that bear unfriendly and polluting fruits as those seeds that ALL THAT IS should pursue and adore.  WE, of ALL THAT IS wish you to understand CHOICE; one in which you may choose to sow and create what benefits the good of all, since all are One, including One with Earth.”

She continued; “Test all your thoughts for their Truth in Spirit, for they all need to be tested. Test all your wants and prayers for their greater effects, for all have effects. Test what or who you most follow, believe, serve or buy into for ‘how come?’ See how your light and all your colors touch everything and a bigger picture of your world. Know that you are joined as one; within your minds, your hearts, and within what you create with your hands. You create it all. However, it never affects who you are in Spirit, it can only affect a reflection of how you know yourself and a story you would tell.”

Rainbow BridgeThen, in all of our left hands appeared a paintbrush. In all of our right hands appeared a palette of all the colors of the rainbow. Then, the Lakota prophetess petitioned us all once again; “Look how when you look down upon your Earth you can see how in your conjoined efforts you have painted a portrait of the Son of Man beginning to see himself as Son of Creator yet still painting a portrait of yourselves as primarily a Son of Man. Such a son is a son of industry, a son of bondage to all you would conform and falsely rely. You are not a creature of Self-destruction, and you do have a choice of whether you wish to paint a life that collectively unfolds in these ways.”

She continued; “Dear Ones, be mindful of the divisions that you manifest that keep you separated from Peace and from your fellow man. In truth, you are all joined and One in Spirit with the Creator of All That Is.”

Beauty, wisdom and strength radiating from her being she wanted to inform; “Make a choice to paint this truth upon the Earth you see. Paint this truth into your experience and reality. For, it is time to use what you know of your Self in a more embodied way. Look down from the top of this rainbow upon Nature to ask Her more clearly how. Because your material world is alive with mirrors, portraits and all that you choose to be painted and why you have painted them.”

“See any internal ways in which you treat yourselves or Earth in ways that makes either polluted or unworthy. Brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children and your Mother, the Earth, are ever worthy. However, through mankind’s treating life unkindly, he has not seen the colors of what you all truly are and what ALL truly IS.”

As she continued talking, she asked those who stood with her to look down upon the Earth in new ways with conjoined foresight and conscious intention. “Free your self,” she said, “For you are here to learn a new freedom regarding who you are and why you came to Earth. Earth is a story about yourself, first not knowing who you are and then knowing Truth. You are not a product to buy or sell; you own nothing and are owned by nothing. When you define yourself through who you are within the world, you create suffering. When you define yourself through a new prayer you re-create Truth. If you cannot pray for PEACE in your world and can only pray for what brings to you chaos, why pray at all?”

As I was wondering what the potential would be if no one prayed at all, she seemed to read my mind and had one thing to say; “You always have a choice of whether you will chose to learn a lesson within a lifetime. Through not choosing, one can never fail, for you can only be what you Are. You merely have another opportunity to learn and a cycle repeats again.”

And, with this last statement, the vision shifted, and White Buffalo Calf Woman showed a glimpse of a potential future. In the vision were many people dressed in white robes, living in shared communities, learning together, at peace with one another and the world. These communities seemed to be one’s that respected the Earth Mother and our brothers, sisters, elders and children. They did not operate on money but upon sharing and trade. Lifestyles were simpler and gentler. Power was ecologically responsible and people lovingly shared responsibilities in tending the land. These communities were one’s that lived the rainbow bridge, seeking to bridge Earth to Heaven, while knowing how to bridge Heaven back to Earth again.
Who is the White Buffalo Calf Woman?

The White Buffalo Calf woman is part of the Lakota traditions. She appeared as an apparition of a young and beautiful woman in white clothing. She gave the Lakota’s many sacred rituals including the “chanunpa” or sacred peace pipe and taught ways of prayer. She said “With this holy pipe you will walk like a living prayer. With your feet resting upon the earth and the pipe stem reaching into the sky, your body forms a living bridge between the Sacred Beneath and the Sacred Above. Wanka Tanka smiles upon us because we are now as one; earth, sky, all living things, the two legged, the four legged, the winged ones, the trees, the grasses.” All are related and all are one family.

White Buffalo Calf woman would leave but promised to return again. As she left she walked off in the same direction she had come and rolled over 4 times turning into 4 different colors of buffalo, the last one the white buffalo calf.

Lakota Instructions For Living

Friend do it this way – that is,
whatever you do in life,
do the very best you can
with both your heart and mind.

And if you do it that way,
the Power Of The Universe
will come to your assistance,
if your heart and mind are in Unity.

When one sits in the Hoop Of The People,
one must be responsible because
All of Creation is related.
And the hurt of one is the hurt of all.
And the honor of one is the honor of all.
And whatever we do effects everything in the universe.

If you do it that way – that is,
if you truly join your heart and mind
as One – whatever you ask for,
that’s the Way It’s Going To Be.

– passed down from White Buffalo Calf Woman

White Buffalo Calf Woman ~ Spiritual Practice

I am here and with you always. I am with the people and am honoured to always be available as your guide. I am here to assist anyone on the earth who chooses to live in peace and harmony with each other and our beloved mother earth. I have shared with you tools that will assist anyone who chooses to practice them and they are still good medicine.

Practice the ceremony of adoption with all your brothers and sisters, that will lead to harmony and compassion between all the tribes of earth. Dance with each other, heal with each other and love one and all. As you expand your understanding of family and grow to love each other, each of you will then in turn find more family and the circle grows. That is how to begin to share your peace with each other. Peace must be your motivating force and being in Oneness with the good earth and each other. The earth will provide for you, but you must provide for her also.
Call upon me to assist in your journey to find that peace within yourself, and then I will share with you how to share your peace with others. I am always willing to come to share with those who want to listen and use the lessons that I teach. I shall bring you wisdom that is balanced and in harmony with mother earth, as you are so much a part of her. Realize your connection to the earth and this will greatly aid in your healing. Trust that mother earth will help to take care of you in return. Follow the rays of the sun and the moon and all that they have to teach you, for you will notice new signs of how to utilize their power in your realm as well.
Engage the nature spirits and work with them through your intuition, and ask them to work with you to enhance your understanding. Share with others what you learn when they ask, and only when they ask, as that is when they are receptive to the gifts that you offer. It is the same for us when we share with you. We have so much wisdom and love to share, however we cannot share until we are invited and asked. This is one of the Universal Laws that govern most realms, and a great one to practice as you learn to live in grace and humility.
Each of you has the ability and the knowledge to work with the realms that are around you. It is just a matter of remembrance and trust. Oh yes, and to practice the skills that you learn. The wise teacher is so because he has walk the path of which he teaches. Therefore walk your path oh wise ones, and use the tools that you are being given, and then walk the path of the wisdom keepers that you are.
I am honoured and grateful for the opportunity to share with you this day. Peace to you all, White Buffalo Calf Woman.

Legend of the White Buffalo Calf Woman

This 2000-year-old legend tells how White Buffalo Calf Woman brought the gifts of knowledge, food, prayer, and a sacred pipe to the Lakota Nation, while camped in the sacred Black Hills of South Dakota. To this day, a respected woman is given the honor of representing Buffalo Woman during Sun Dance rituals. Two ancient pipes have survived and are kept by the Looking Horse family on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation of South Dakota.

Before the coming of White Buffalo Calf Woman, the People of the Plains suffered from starvation and disease – the consequences of not following traditional ways. The Lakota bands came together at the Seven Sacred Council Fires and instructed young scouts to search in all directions for game. Walking northwest from camp, towards Devil’s Tower, two scouts stopped to rest on a hill and spotted a figure in the distance. As it came closer they saw it was a white buffalo calf. Suddenly the calf turned into a beautiful young woman dressed in shining-white buckskin, colorfully decorated in quills. She told them she was bringing something holy from the Buffalo Nation, and to prepare the way for her. On hearing this news, and with great excitement, the people in the camp made ready to receive her in a large medicine lodge supported with 24 poles. Four days later, the Holy Woman entered, and began to teach the People the Seven Sacred Rites. She then opened a pouch to reveal a sacred pipe and began preying. Filling the pipe with red-willow bark tobacco, she lit it with a burning buffalo chip. After walking around the lodge in four circles, she passed the pipe to the band Elders, saying that the smoke was the breath of the Great Grandfather Spirit, the bowl represented the unity of the Buffalo and Red Man’s flesh and blood, and the wooden stem was all things that grew on the Earth.

Next she removed from her bundle gifts of corn, wild turnip and pemmican. She showed the women
how to cook foods in water in a buffalo paunch by dropping in a red-hot stone heated by a hearth fire. She then spoke to the children – the precious ones of the next generation – how someday they would grow up to have little ones, and to hold the sacred pipe and pray. Before departing, she told the gathering that they were chosen to keep the sacred pipe for all First Nations People on this Turtle
Island. She promised to return to renew harmony, prosperity and spirituality. As she walked away into
the red setting sun, she rolled over four times in the form of a buffalo, each time becoming a black,
brown, red, and finally a white calf. Soon after, great herds of buffalo appeared on the grassy hills,
providing the Lakota Nation with all the resources they needed. Since then, a White Buffalo Calf has
become the most venerated of all living things.

The Story of Blizzard - The White Buffalo
By Dr. Robert E. Wrigley, Curator, Assiniboine Park Zoo
As the Curator at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, it is my responsibility to acquire new animals for our conservation and interpretive programs. In 2006, I was in the process of arranging an exchange of European Bison with a rancher in the United States, when he informed me that a white calf had been born in June 2005 in his large herd of Plains Bison. His animals originated from the herd in Custer State Park, South Dakota. I immediately expressed interest in acquiring this white calf, since it would draw many people to the Zoo. The Buffalo is Manitoba’s Provincial emblem, and historically played a prominent role in the livelihood and culture of First Nations, Métis, and European traders and settlers. I thought that Manitobans and visitors would appreciate being able to see and learn about this rare White Buffalo. While I had heard about Miracle and Big Medicine – two other famous White Buffalo born on ranches in Wisconsin and Montana – I must admit I had no idea of the great spiritual significance of such an animal. I gave the calf his English name Blizzard not only due to his color, but because he arrived in Winnipeg during a fierce snow storm on March 6, 2006.

When word of Blizzard’s arrival was made public, a number of First Nations Elders arrived to inform us of the great importance of this event, and to ensure that the proper protocol would be followed in showing respect to such a spiritual animal. Foremost among these advisors was Elder Roger Armitte, and in the following years he has become a close friend and has helped me with numerous media interviews and documentaries on Blizzard. Another individual who showed great interest in our White Buffalo was Winnipeg Police Service Patrol Sergeant, Cecil Sveinson. He is a spiritual caregiver and keeper of the two Sweat Lodges near Blizzard’s enclosure at the Zoo, and is committed to keeping alive First Nations’ ceremonial traditions.

While Blizzard was still in quarantine at the Zoo Hospital, special permission was granted to Elder Armitte and several other Elders to perform a welcoming ceremony. This blessing involved a smudge with sweet grass, and singing a prayer to the beat of a drum. Now most animals are frightened of smoke and unusual sounds, but Blizzard walked right over to the barn window and stood reverently for the entire performance, as if he knew that he was being honored. A second welcoming ceremony and feast, with many more First Nations attendees, was held after Blizzard was moved to a display enclosure, and the event was enjoyed as a time of celebration and hope; Blizzard again remained close by to watch over the activities.

Blizzard has sometimes looked a little strange with mats of shedding hair hanging from his sides. And like all Bison, he enjoys rolling in the dust and mud wallows, so we can never guarantee visitors and photographers that our White Buffalo will always be white. He looks best in his fresh and clean winter coat, especially after he rolls in the snow. Seeing Blizzard and a brown female together in a field of snow makes for a fascinating photograph, and he all but disappears from view on a snowy day.
When Blizzard was finally introduced to our Bison herd, the meeting caused great excitement. I have never heard so much grunting and snorting, and witnessed such astonishing speed from these huge animals, as the herd charged back and forth across the field. When placed together a few days later, there was plenty of head butting and pushing, and I was quite concerned at times that the jousting was getting out of hand. Heads colliding and horns pounding into rib cages is not a reassuring sight or sound. Finally things settled down, and the dominant females eventually accepted his presence. Perhaps because he looks so different in his white coat, the females still keep him on the outside of the group. As he matures and reaches full size, this relationship will change as he takes charge of the herd. Blizzard still appears to enjoy visiting with people, and of course the appearance of a pail of alfalfa pellets will bring him at a gallop over to the fence. I have introduced a number of First Nations people to Blizzard, and it is touching to see their emotional reactions at being so close to their spiritual animal. Blizzard always responds with interest and gentleness, taking bunches of grass from their hands with his long and soft tongue.

I was privileged, through the kind invitation of my friend Cecil Sveinson, to witness and participate in a Sweat Lodge Ceremony at the Zoo, and a Sun Dance Ceremony in the Sacred Sandhills near Carberry, Manitoba. For a White person, these were experiences I will never forget, and I felt like I was stepping back into an ancient time to observe the most-sacred and private of ceremonies of a people little known to my culture. In this regard, I would like to recount a special story entitled: “The Legend of the White Buffalo Calf Woman,” which epitomizes beautifully what this rare animal has meant to the people of the Plains for over a thousand years. This legend tells how White Buffalo Calf Woman brought the gifts of knowledge, food, prayer (including Sweat Lodge and Sun Dance ceremonies), and a sacred pipe to the Lakota Nation, while camped in the sacred Black Hills of South Dakota, which ironically was Blizzard’s ancestral home. To this day, a respected woman is given the honor of representing Buffalo Woman during Sun Dance rituals. Two ancient pipes have survived to this day, and are kept by the Looking Horse family on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation of South Dakota.

Originally numbering about 60 million head, the Buffalo was the foundation of the Plains First Nations’ way of life – providing food, clothing, tools, fuel, and materials for their homes and ceremonies. Before the coming of White Buffalo Calf Woman, the People of the Plains suffered from starvation and disease – the consequences of not following traditional ways. The Lakota bands came together at the Seven Sacred Council Fires and instructed young scouts to search in all directions for game. Walking northwest from camp, towards Devil’s Tower, two scouts stopped to rest on a hill, and spotted a figure in the distance. As it came closer they saw it was a White Buffalo calf. Suddenly the calf turned into a beautiful young woman dressed in shining-white buckskin, colorfully decorated in quills. She told them she was bringing a holy gift from the Buffalo Nation, and to prepare the way for her. On hearing this news, and with great excitement, the people in the camp made ready to receive her in a large Medicine Lodge, supported with 24 poles. Four days later, the Holy Woman entered, and began to teach the people the Seven Sacred Rites. She then opened a pouch to reveal a Sacred Pipe and began praying. Filling the Pipe with red-willow bark tobacco, she lit it with a burning Buffalo chip. After walking around the lodge in four circles, she passed the Pipe to the band Elders, saying that the smoke was the breath of the Great Grandfather Spirit, the bowl represented the unity of the Buffalo and the Red Man’s flesh and blood, and the wooden stem was all things that grew on the Earth.

Next she removed from her bundle, gifts of corn, wild turnip and pemmican. She showed the women how to cook foods in water in a Buffalo paunch by dropping in a red-hot stone heated by a hearth fire. She then spoke to the children -- the precious ones of the next generation -- how someday they would grow up to have little ones, and to hold the Sacred Pipe and pray. Before departing, she told the gathering that they were chosen to keep the Sacred Pipe for all First Nations People on this Turtle Island. She promised to return someday to renew harmony, prosperity and spirituality. As she walked away into the setting red sun, she rolled over four times in the form of a Buffalo, in turn becoming black, brown, red, and finally a white calf. Soon after, great herds of Buffalo appeared on the grassy hills, providing the Lakota Nation with all the resources they needed. Since then, a White Buffalo Calf has become the most-venerated of all living things.

With the assistance of the City of Winnipeg Translation Services, and Aboriginal Languages of Manitoba, I was able to have this Legend translated into French, Dakota, Cree, Ojibway and Dene, in both Roman orthography and syllabics. The artwork was created by my daughter-in-law, Bobbie-Joe Leclair, of First Nations ancestry. These signs demonstrate our appreciation to First Nations people for the gift of sharing their spiritual beliefs and traditions with us.

Hundreds of thousands of Zoo visitors come to see Blizzard each year, and many individuals have developed a close relationship with him, offering prayers, songs, and gifts of tobacco ties, colored cloth, and dream-catchers. This calf has become so much more than a display animal -- he is a symbol of spiritual renewal and hope in our community, and has focused attention on bringing people of all backgrounds together. It has been a wonderful experience interacting with numerous individuals from First Nations and Métis communities, and they have taught me so much about their traditional relationships with Nature and the spiritual world. I hope you will have an opportunity to visit Blizzard, and to appreciate what his presence brings to many people, here in Manitoba and from elsewhere.

Sing a song, and get along, to have joy in life, full of tears, because you know, the sacred flow is all we have to get us home! Dance all day, and learn to play, with all you do and think and say, because we need love to please, to open hearts and doors to be! Welcome all your relatives, into the heart of all your sin and say, "I love you this very day" and "I won't let you get away!". I will fight for love this day, I will fight to show the way, because I am here to love you dear, my heart that sheds so many tears. And when we hope to comfort folks, then we will be prepared to say, "Come pray with me, learn joy to speak, and song and dance will keep us in relief". Whisper song and let a breeze come home to know your knees, where prayer is your living sacred breeze!

Rainbow Warriors of Prophecy Hoop 4

THE LAW is LOVE, the SNAKE (Sioux) TRAILS

THE LAW IS LOVE, not one over other, but ALL the CIRCLE. This is called the Hoops or the Elliptical Path of the Universe. There are four roads or waves that intersect; red road full of colors, blue road full of song, yellow road full of dreams and white road all together now, let us bow.

Relatives, that's the law and if you break the law over one child of the rainbow, no matter what age, you break the law. That the LAW, and it's LOVE. Love thy neighbor as thy brother. This is a commandment of God's ONENESS.

We are Married forever and ever, the ring (hoop) is forever. There is "No way out", "only a Way In" .... this is the sacred circle of our collective dreams. We are learning to walk towards!

White Buffalo Calf Woman (Ptse San Wi Yan), your Twin Deer Mother, has come home to your hearts. It's time to walk the evolution's path. We all are part of the Rainbow Clan, my relatives each and everyone. Receive the treasures that your iyes(h)ka (interpreter) gifts to you, the sacred song blessings, that always are true (soul and voice of the song). And inside of you, the soul that comes alive, the prayers that live, and shout, "I am and I thrive!"

Life is a Roller Coaster and Now I'm on a ride, over rolling hills again, and back to the place where I collide (dark and light). Heaven (dark) and Earth (light) come home to me and we will be getting along, where the sunset returns again, the place I call my home. Star is born, the light does shine, every single morn, and I have to open my heart, so I can get along. There is a kingdom out there, the place of paradise, and we are going home right now, if we can only collide (dark and light). Be my heart and walk with me, be the rising sun (Morning Star), have the place of wonder in the wishing land. Singing to your heart, White Buffalo Calf Woman is finally home at last! Ask for blessings, come receive the greatest you have known, there is promise everywhere, just you look and sea, the heart of wisdom knows the place, the heart that can conceive.

About Jeff (meaning peace) [He is the Singular (mission) father (leading) that goes around town (evolution's call to the circle of life). We call him the Golden Light of Sound, he is the chosen one, to view the world, but he needs to come home to call. There he will find a home where all will know his knives (sharing and dividing). Without a place to trumpet, he does not have a home. He longs to find a home where all can find a lid (roof, sanctuary, green grass home). Jeff Golden Light of Sound is the House of Cones (light reflection in evolution), the blossom, that reigns forth. Don't be alarmed, he should go away. But be sure his heart will stay. He is the bishop to your pawn (blessing you). You can rise up to his call. Blow billows of sunshine in the air. He will be standing in the streams so fair.]

Jeff Golden Light of Sound said, "I dreamed of the White Buffalo Calf Woman, she pointed to her heart and Buffaloes of all colors formed a circle, the White Buffalo went to the heart and all other Buffaloes followed."

White Buffalo Calf Woman Interprets: The heart is the path into heaven, where our souls do hide. We all belong to the Circle of Oneness, the Rainbow Clan. For we are all related and of God. A Buffalo represents the tools of light, in four rainbow colors, to assist your heavenly mission (heavenly name). This is our holy temple, our flesh, the Buffalo Home. White Buffaloes are like the stars, those who shine, united four roads, the blue, red, yellow, then white, the star. Grandfather light (white person, in their tools of light, rainbow directions) naturally shines like this, the white light of unity, who is humble, and bows like the Rainbow to receive blessings. The rest of us, must learn to walk this humble path, to shine like stars. These are the Rainbow Warriors of Prophecy who unite! A White Buffalo is the Star of Heaven, who shines upon Earth, walking and talking (wakan tankan, the Great Spirit Within) the united four roads. These are the White Buffaloes who are able to walk through the door of heaven, the crystalline heart of White Buffalo Calf Woman, to greet thyself (mirror to the soul, the heart of the crystal person), the soul seeking a way out, to illuminate and shout, to be validated, for who I am! The Rainbow Warriors of Prophecy, learning to become the White Buffaloes (stars of heaven, that shine), begin the Great Migration home. We enter the Third Phase of Evolution, the yellow rolling hill in time (dawning of brotherhood), where dreams do come true. Heaven and Earth, Welcome Home!

White Buffalo Calf Woman Sings: When pointing to the heart, the direction that imparts, the wisdom of the path of the inner light. Here we are many rainbow colors, all part of the same vision of the sacred circle of life. We are relatives, who need to come home twice. Once in the flesh (red road), and once in the soul (blue road), then we know, that we have binded (bound) our whole. When we follow the path of the heart and the soul, all other buffaloes will flow, for rainbows of latter (ancestors), the buffalo homes that have been shattered (separated and divided), will carry us home, to a brand new day, when we look for the heart that leads the day (to flow together, as one shining river).

The tools of light, do shine, like the holy temple of the mind, the flesh that does hold a soul inside. We call the tools of light, the buffalo home. For it's four sacred directions, that gift to us eight directions, the four colors then reflection, to gift our lights. Then we are the Rainbow Colors, the clan that does show reason, when we understand, that we belong to each others, by demand. For it's God's children, we hold the upper hand, for it's sacred in here, where the buffalo steer, the trembling of the hooves who do gallop away. We are here to lead the great migration day.

The circle of buffalo were the sacred rainbow colors, parts each of us, to be whole again, when we join together, in the wind. And as we join together, we follow the fortunate weather, it's inward, the heavenly route, the soul that flies, all inside. And heaven is what leads us, where all buffalo do feed us, to go home again. To feel the wind again. We are going home. To be under the sun.

And it's time for us to gather, to listen to our hearts talk. To walk the path of righteousness in the wind. And when it's all over, we will journey together, the path of love, the holy days, of eternity. Oh blessed bee, let us dream together and be free. Rejoice, Rejoice, the Green Grass Grows!
